Computer problems, Easter egg hunts, Car problems

It's been a while since I've made an entry here, and I do have a "reason", but I'm sorry to say part of the reason is that I've just been lazy about it! Anyway, at the beginning of April, our subscription for our virus protection expired and we didn't get it renewed right away. So of course, our computer got a few viruses! Our poor computer was soooo sick, it kept freezing up after only a few minutes of use, and it would shut down on its own whenever it felt like it! So we asked a guy from our church (whose job is computers) if he could try and fix our computer. He was nice enough to refragment (I think that's what he called it) our computer, and now it works great! We are so happy to get our computer back! So that is my "reason" for not posting for a while, but I actually could have downloaded my pictures to our laptop and posted an entry from there, but I just never got around to doing it.

The week before Easter, we took the kids to Janet's (my mother-in-law) gun club for the Easter egg hunt. There were lots of kids there, so Ashlee only got 8 eggs, but she still had fun. David and Carter were in the older age group and they didn't get to look for eggs, but the lady in charge did gather the older kids after the egg hunt was over and she just tossed out some candy and the older kids ran around picking it up. So David and Carter were able to get a little bit of candy. They also had free hot dogs, popcorn, koolaid drinks, and cupcakes & cookies. It was a fun time! They had face painting, too, but David and Ashlee don't like to get their face painted, and Carter just had them paint a football on the back of his hand. Then a few days before Easter, a lady from our church had an Easter egg hunt at her house. She had everyone who was going to be there drop off a dozen candy filled plastic eggs at her house the day before the egg hunt. So every child who was there was only supposed to get 12 eggs during the hunt to make sure every kid got some eggs. There were extra eggs because the lady had provided extras in case someone had forgotten to drop off eggs before the hunt. So after everyone had 12 eggs, they let the kids get whatever extra eggs they could find. They had a nice swing set in their yard that the kids played on for a few minutes before we left. All 3 kids had lots of fun!

Two weeks ago, Dave drove to his work to pick up his paycheck, and of course Ashlee wanted to go with him (she always wants to go everywhere!). After they got his check and went to the bank, the car decided to break down! When Dave started the car, it turned over, but it wouldn't stay on. So he called a tow truck, which took about an hour! I'm sure that was a fun hour for Dave trying to keep Ashlee entertained! So they rode in the tow truck to a Pep Boys that is a couple of blocks down the road from our house. We would have preferred to have the car fixed at a mechanic that we usually go to, but he is in Pennsylvania, and Dave and Ashlee needed to be closed enough to walk home. So we were hoping it was just a fuel filter or something minor, but when they called to tell us what was wrong, it was the fuel pump! So in order to get it fixed, we had to use almost all of Dave's paycheck, which was supposed to be for rent and bills! So of course we are now stressed out and very worried about our finances! But anyway, when Dave and Ashlee got home, Ashlee announced that the car was "dead"! Dave said that Ashlee kept asking what was wrong when the car wouldn't work, so he told her it was dead. Pep Boys told us they would fix it on Saturday, so our car was in the parking lot waiting for its turn to be fixed. So later that day (Friday), they called us to tell us that someone had hit our car while it was parked in the parking lot! We thought, it's bad enough we need a new fuel pump, but now someone hit our car! But the good news is that the lady who hit our car was honest and she went into Pep Boys and left her insurance information with them to give to us. But of course they couldn't bother to go out to the parking lot to see what kind of damage was done to our car before they called us! So Dave got a ride to and from work Friday night (he works graveyard on Friday and Saturdays) from someone from church, and they stopped by Pep Boys to look at the damage to the car before taking Dave to work. Dave took a few pictures of the damage. The front driver's side headlight cover was cracked and it came off, but at least the light still worked. Where the light hooks into the car was a little dented, too, but I'll get to that in a minute. So Saturday, Pep Boys calls and says that the fuel pump they had put in was defective and didn't work, and it was the only one they had so they had to order another one and they would fix the car on Sunday. They said they would give us a 10% discount for the trouble. I guess the fuel pump in our car is in the gas tank, so it's hard to fix. So Dave had to get a ride to and from work again Saturday night. So Sunday evening, Dave finally went to get the car. The damage in the front didn't look too bad. So on Monday, Janet, my mother-in-law who lives with us (the car is in her name), called the insurance information to find out when our car could get fixed. Last Tuesday, they took the car to get fixed, and they said it could take up to a week, so we were able to get an Enterprise car to drive while our car was being fixed. So on Friday the car was fixed and we gave back the rented car and got our car back.
